Today's feast will be much like our prior years', but to continue the tradition of posting our food plans for the day, here's what we're going to be cooking:
- Chai to start off the day
- Crab dip, with both store-bought and homemade artisan bread (I'm trying a bread recipe that involves an 18-hour yeast incubation; I started it last night, and it's still incubating as I type)
- Cran-raspberry-pineapple gelatin conglomeration
- Mashed yams
- Baked sweet potatoes with marshmallows and brown sugar
- Homemade cranberry jelly (the first time we've made it from scratch!)
- Mashed potatoes (possibly with turnips)
- Green bean casserole with fried shallots
- Broiled (or grilled) salmon filet

One of the things I really love about Thanksgiving is that it really is just about cooking and eating. If it has a religious aspect, it's only due to the fact that most religions expect you to be grateful for food. Otherwise it's your basic harvest feast (woo hoo!!)
