- The newest version of Ubuntu (Edgy Eft, 6.10) was released a few weeks ago; the release notes summarize the major changes. I won't have time to try installing it until winter break, sadly.
- Microsoft has announced a partnership with Novell to support Linux better, including helping Microsoft Office interact better with OpenOffice.
- Microsoft Windows Vista's EULA has some questionable terms (including restrictions on publishing benchmarks).

Take a look at Groklaw (www.groklaw.net) for commentary on the Microsoft/Novell deal. A lot of people on the FOSS community are very, very unhappy about this.
