- The Gigapixel Project - A photographer taking pictures with approximately 4 gigapixel resolution; the images are taken with a film camera (using custom lenses and 9"x18" film) and then processed digitally. The image gallery is filled with some amazing photographs. (via BoingBoing)
- Bees Battle "Hornets From Hell" - A video on National Geographic News of both Japanese and European honeybees defending their own. (via BoingBoing)
- Return of the 17-Year Cicadas - The winning video from AAAS's 2005 Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge. This is a five-minute video showing cicadas emerging from their 17-year period as juveniles, molting into adults (complete with some of the best eclosion footage I've seen), and then producing young. Pharyngula says this will "creep everyone out"; I say it should leave everyone in awe of insect life cycles. (via Pharyngula)
